The JPS Winter Youth Basketball League is our core program and is the host of the Jefferson County Youth Basketball Conference.  Serving high school areas in Jefferson County and beyond for over three decades, our Winter League sets the standard for youth sports done right.  For youth players in grades 2 thru 8, with skill levels that range from never-played-before-beginner to the elite competitive travel-team players, we have the division to fit your skill level.      

The JPS Winter League is the host of the Jefferson County Basketball Conference, and is the official association for all teams from the following high school areas:

We allow teams to play in our league from anywhere in Colorado as long as they are sponsored by a Jeffco Member area (JPS), so you may sign up as a team.  We just want kids to play basketball!   We do take individual registrations for most areas listed above and can place you on a team.

 REGISTRATION INFORMATION:  

  • Registration is open June 1 through October 31, 2025, depending on space.  Early Registration fee applies through September 30th.  Regular Registration fee will add $25 and is through Oct 15, a late fee of $50 will apply to all registrations after Oct 15.  Players are placed based on availability after October 15.  
  • Available for boys & girls grades 2 through 8.  
  • $295 early registration per-player for grades 2, 3, & 4: 10-game guarantee (including the Holiday Tournament) plus playoffs for qualifying teams.  Practice time is included.  There will be an additional cost for Uniforms, see Jerseys & Uniforms section below.  
  • $315 early registration per-player for grades 5, 6, 7, & 8: 12-game guarantee (including the Holiday Tournament) plus playoffs for qualifying teams.  Practice time is included.  There will be an additional cost for Uniforms, see Jerseys & Uniforms section below.  
  • Price for NO PRACTICE TIME needed is $225 for early registration through October 10.  Regular registration fee will add $25 starting October 10. Call to find out how to register 303-880-1415  
  • Roster rules do not require all players to be from same high school area and will include separation of teams with competitive players from teams with recreation-level players.  
  • Individual Registration: we can place you on a team, or you can request to be on a specific team.  
  • Divisions for teams with various skills levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze in most grade levels for boys.  Girls usually just have one division.  
  • No Sunday Games or Practices.  
  • PRACTICES: Practice begin the week of November 3rd.  We don't assign practices until mid-October.  Every team that pays for practice should get two practices per week.  The coach will schedule those practices.  Sometimes, a coach may decide to only practice once a week, and sometimes practices get cancelled because a school cancels our gym use.    
  • REGULAR SEASON GAMES begin Monday, December 1 and will conclude on or before February 14, 2026.  Games could be any day of the week except Sunday.  League Blackout dates are: November 24 - 30; and December 21 - January 2.  Game day typically varies from week to week.  Game locations likely will include Gold Crown, River Church, Tony Grampsas, Lilly Gulch Rec Center, South Suburban and The Courts in Northglenn and many other gyms in the Denver Metro area.  (Including Metro State College and Regis)  
  • PLAYOFFS & LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS are included as part of the League and could start February 16 and will end on or before February 12, 2026.  All Championship games will be played at The Courts Sports Complex in Northglenn on Championship Saturday, February 21.  The top 8 teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs, single elimination format. No Game Admission Fees for Spectators.  
  • PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT: JPS hosts the Pre-Season Tournament (see details on our website), this is not included as part of the Winter League, but is a great way to “warm-up” for the season.
  • HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT: JPS hosts the Holiday tournament which every JPS winter team will be enrolled to play in as part of the winter fee cost.  The dates are Dec 18 - Dec 20 with multiple divisions per grade level.

 

REFUND POLICY: A $30 fee will be charged for any player withdrawing prior to the registration deadline.  Requests for refunds must be in writing and sent to JP Sports.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF OFFICIAL PRACTICE NOVEMBER 3RD.    

JERSEYS & UNIFORMS: There will be an additional cost for uniforms.  Each player must have a matching team uniform. Green Mountain area players will be using the same uniform as was used in the 2024-2025 season.  Click here to link to the GM uniform order. Teams from non-Green Mountain areas may decide to purchase their own uniforms as a team or may decide to order uniforms from JP Sports for an additional cost.  Custom uniforms are available from JP Sports.  Uniforms will be ordered by team on or around the week of October 5.    

  

COACHING: Are you interested in coaching?  We need YOU!  Please review the Coaches Certification on the JPS website.  Once Jacquie has confirmed your coaching position, you will need to complete the background check and the concussion training per the Coaches Certification page.  
  • Background Check:  Each new coach must complete the background check in Fall 2024.
  • Concussion Training: All coaches are required to complete the concussion training EACH YEAR.   
  • Coaches Meeting: Wednesday, October 29th 7:00pm at Gold Crown.
